I know!<br /><br />Oh, I am so excited! Yesterday was a bit wild for me, so I didn't post. I had to wait until everything was more finalized. But I feel pretty safe in sharing this...<br /><br />I have been accepted as a designer at Designs In Digital! (They were ClikChicDesigns) Wow, huh? I sort of applied on a whim and out of curiosity. I figured I'd get a "thanks, but keep working on it" response. So I am just bowled over with excitement! And a bit nervous of course too! I still feel so new to this. I have some prep work to do first! While I may not be offering the big freebies as often, I will still offer them. I always make more than will actually fit into a kit. So after I narrow it all down, what else would I do with the extras?!?! And I love Scrap Galaxy, so it won't change anything for me there!<br /><br />Well, I wanted to share my news! I may be hit and miss here for the next little while as I get prepared for the store. I have to focus on that first. I love watercolors so I thought I'd do a tutorial on using them to color in your images.</span><br /><br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Using the Noir (or black craft ink) ink stamp the lighthouse onto Cold Press watercolor paper.<span style=""> </span>Be sure to apply good pressure since the Cold Press has some texture to it.<span style=""> </span>Allow the ink to dry completely.</span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;" ><br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Dip a #2 Flat brush into clean water and apply water to the sky areas around the lighthouse. (you may need a different size brush depending on the size of the image you are using!)<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Dip the paint brush back into clean water and then put it into the light blue paint.<span style=""> </span>After picking up some of the paint onto your brush put the paint onto a paint tray or styrofoam plate so that it can be mixed.<span style=""> </span>Dip the brush back into the water and then into the gray paint.<span style=""> </span>Mix the gray and light blue paint together to form a cloudy sky gray.<span style=""> </span>Apply this mixture onto the wet areas of the picture.<span style=""> </span>Start in the areas along the shoreline and along the lighthouse.<span style=""> </span>Spread the paint outward into the sky.<span style=""> </span>This gives you a darker color along the areas where you first apply the paint.<span style=""> </span>Allow the paint to dry completely.<span style=""> </span>You can speed the drying process up with a heat gun, but hold it a little farther away so you don't blow the color to a different spot!<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Now apply clean water to the lower portion of the sky.</span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" > Dip the paint brush back into clean water and then put it into the cobalt blue paint.<span style=""> </span>After picking up some of the paint onto your brush apply this sparingly onto the wet areas of the picture.<span style=""> </span>Start in the areas along the shoreline and along the lighthouse.<span style=""> </span>Spread the paint outward into the sky.<span style=""> </span>Use random curvy strokes to achieve a more cloud-like appearance.<span style=""> </span>Allow this to dry somewhat- but not all of the way.<span style=""> </span>Using a facial tissue blot the paint.<span style=""> </span>This will lift some of the paint off and create a more cloud-like appearance.<span style=""> </span>Allow the paint to dry completely.<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Apply clean water along the shoreline and just a little ways up the lighthouse (mostly at the edges of these spots and not out into the sky much at all).</span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" > Dip the paint brush back into clean water and then put it into the marine blue paint.<span style=""> </span>After picking up some of the paint onto your brush put the paint onto the paint tray.<span style=""> </span>Dip the brush back into the water and then into the gray paint.<span style=""> </span>Mix the gray and marine blue paint together, the gray will tone the marine blue down just slightly.<span style=""> </span>Dip the brush into clean water and then into the burnt umber.<span style=""> </span>Mix a small amount of the burnt umber into the blue/gray mix.<span style=""> </span>This will darken it somewhat.<span style=""> </span>Apply this mixture onto the wet areas of the picture.<span style=""> </span>Use the brush to run along those shoreline edges and the lower portions of the lighthouse.<span style=""> </span>Allow the paint to blend into the cobalt blue to blend.<span style=""> </span>Use a little more water if necessary to create the blended effect.<span style=""> </span>If the color is too dark use a tissue to lightly blot until you like the color.<span style=""> </span>Allow the paint to dry completely.<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Apply clean water to the grassy areas and the shaded areas on the lighthouse.</span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" > Dip the paint brush back into clean water and then put it into the raw umber paint.<span style=""> </span>After picking up some of the paint onto your brush apply this to the wet areas of the picture.<span style=""> </span>Follow the curves of the hills on the grass.<span style=""> </span>On the lighthouse begin with the paint in the shadows and blend downward.<span style=""> </span>Apply just a bit to the bottom steps of the lighthouse.<span style=""> </span>Allow the paint to dry completely.<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Apply clean water to the grassy areas.<span style=""> </span>Pick up some lime green paint onto your brush.<span style=""> </span>Apply this paint to the grass going right over the raw umber. <span style=""> </span>Blot with a tissue randomly and very lightly.<br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Using a #00 Round Brush apply clean water to the birds in the shaded areas.<span style=""> </span>Pick up a small amount of gray paint and apply to those areas.<span style=""> </span>Repeat this with a touch of yellow ochre to add highlighted areas around the gray.</span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;" ><br /></span><span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >*Using the round brush re-wet the marine blue mixture if you had some left (if not just get more!).<span style=""> </span>Very lightly run the brush along the two center lines on the lighthouse and under the railing in the shadows to create a little shading and depth.<span style=""> </span>If it is too dark- add more water to thin it and blot with a tissue if necessary.<br /></span><span style="font-size:100%;">*Apply water to the shaded sides of the lighthouse using the flat brush.<span style=""> </span>Apply yellow ochre paint to those areas.<span style=""> <br /></span><o:p></o:p></span><span style="font-size:100%;">*Apply a touch of navy paint to the rooftop, left side of the lighthouse and under the railing in the shadows.<o:p></o:p></span><span style="font-size:100%;"><br />*Rewet the upper sky.<span style=""> </span>Mix gray, white and light blue together and apply the mixture to the wet areas of the sky.<span style=""> </span>Blot with a tissue randomly to create cloud shapes if desired.<o:p></o:p></span> <span style="font-family: georgia;font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;" >Using the round brush and a touch of black paint (very diluted with water) apply black paint to the shadowed and shaded areas of the image (under the railing, the left side of the lighthouse and the rooftop).</span><span Actually I feel like I am chasing a speeding train this week. Is it really only Tuesday- and not last Tuesday? Yikes! I have a few projects in the works, but I am not ready to load them yet. I am going to focus on that tonight if all goes well! I have been putting in a lot of time on our "real" business, this is a must in the Spring. But it leaves me either drained mentally or irritated. Depends on how things went, no broken printers or running out of supplies in the middle of something. I am sure you understand. So, I feel like I have put in more than enough hours today. Run the edges across your Jumbo Java ink pad.<br />3.Cut Pink Dot Cardstock to 4” x 4½”. Tear across the bottom. Run the un-torn edges across your Jumbo Java ink pad.<br />4.Cut Brown Pattern Cardstock to 1¾” x 3¾”. Run the edges across your Jumbo Java ink pad.<br />5.Cut Cream Cardstock to 1½” x 3½”. <br />6.To color your flower: lightly spray your mounted flower and wipe most of the water off. You want it to be slightly damp. Apply the pink colors listed starting with the lightest color. Begin on the outer edges with the light pink. Bring the color about half way to the center. Using your medium pink apply color slightly overlapping the light pink and bring it almost all the way to the center of the flower. Use your dark pink to fill in the remaining area of the center. Hold the squirt bottle about 12” away from your stamp and lightly spray. It should be a fine mist. Stamp onto the cardstock. You may be able to get a second image if you lightly mist again. (Make another card or a tag with it!)<br />7.Repeat step 6 for the stem- using the green crayons.<br />8.Punch out a file tab from the Catelynn set. Stamp the sentiment in Jumbo Java ink as shown.<br />9.Apply Light Pink ink to the flower edges and raised parts. Put a brad through the center of the flower.<br />10. Assemble card as shown. I assemble the card front completely before attaching it to the card. It has only been *almost* a year since I sent my first submission to a magazine! I am hoping to send more creations this year than I did last!<br /><br />I also have added a few new cards to the gallery! I put "NEW" in front of the stamp set name to help you find them! I will try to remove the new after a month or so.<br /><br />I am hoping to scrap tonight, which will mean more new things to be added! I am trying to get through listening to Eragon so we can take DD to see the movie. I am the last one to read it. So, I have got to hurry before they lose patience! Cut White Cardstock to 8½” x 4¼”, score at 4¼” for the card.<br />2. Cut White Cardstock to 1½” x 2½”. Ink edges with Moulin Rouge Ink.<br />3. Cut White Cardstock to 1” x 2”. Ink edges with Moulin Rouge Ink.<br />4. Cut Red Cardstock to 1¼” x 2¼”. <br />5. Cut Word Paper to 3” x 5½”. Ink edges with Moulin Rouge Ink.<br />6. Cut Stripe Paper to 1¼” x 5½”. Cut White Cardstock to 8½” x 4¼”, score at 4¼” for the card.<br />2. Cut Green #1 Cardstock to 4¼” x 4¼”.<br />3. Cut Circle Pattern Cardstock to 4” x 4”.<br />4. Cut White Cardstock to a 2¼” wide circle. Run the edges across your Tea Leaves ink pad.<br />5. Cut Magenta Cardstock to a 2½” circle.<br />6. Cut Black Cardstock to a 2¾” circle.<br />7. Cut Magenta Cardstock to ¾” x 4”.<br />8. Stamp the image in Noir ink onto the White circle.<br />9. To color your image apply the colors as follows:<br />Chartreuse- color in the grass area <br />Limepeel- shade the grass and color in the trees<br />Olive Green- shade the trees (follow along the lines)<br />Process Red- color in the house<br />Mulberry- shade the house<br />Dahlia Purple- add more shading on the house<br />Light Aqua- color the door, chimney and trace the roof line<br />Aquamarine- shade the door and chimney<br />Dark Green- shade the trees and more shading on the grass<br />10. To use blending stumps: You will want one stump per color family so that the colors don’t get mixed and muddy. Start with the lightest color in the lightest area. Dip the end of the stump in the mineral spirits for a few seconds. Hold it up to let the liquid be absorbed before you apply it to the image.
